Autumn signals the end of fruity-bubbles-consumed-by-a-pool parties, and heralds the beginning of comfort-food-and-drinks-enjoyed-somewhere-warm social events.
This shift in entertaining inevitably gets households digging into the back of the kitchen cupboard to rescue their trusty slow cooking appliances – including the non-electrical Wonderbag (which we featured last year).
We think the Wonderbag is the perfect accompaniment to any Autumn festivity, allowing users to cook up a storm – or the perfect beverage – at home, yet still have it cooking and at the perfect temp when time comes to consume.
INGREDIENTS:
750 mL bottle red wine
6 allspice berries
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cardamom pods
3 star anise
4 cloves
Juice of one orange
ΒΌ cup honey
One orange, sliced thin
One lemon, sliced thin
Pour wine into 2-3 quart pot with a tight-fitting lid. Add whole spices, orange juice, honey, and orange and lemon slices. Stir well and bring to a simmering boil for 10 min.
Leave wine in Wonderbag for a minimum of 2 hours before serving to enhance flavour. Will retain heat in Wonderbag for several hours. Ladle into heatproof wine glasses or mugs, including fruit slices.
